Years ago almost all of the ice hockey socks we sold to teams were custom made. They may have been in the same pattern as your favorite NHL team but the colors were your own. Today our biggest seller is plain solid color socks. Why?
Custom ice hockey socks are still available and in fact there are more choices than ever before. Check out all these patterns…
Add to that the fact that you can change any of those colors to come up with your own team design and you’re looking at thousands of possible combinations. Of course there is the minimum order to deal with for custom color designs…. 12 pair. Yep that’s it only 12 pair of socks and you can have any pattern and color combination you want.
You can find a full selection of sizes of custom ice hockey socks at www.morleyathletic.com . These socks are Made In The USA and they only take 4 weeks to ship in most cases. Custom ice hockey socks are made of a durable nylon/acrylic mix so the comfort lasts as long as the socks. They also boast 5 ply construction and a 3 x 1 rib knit design so they keep their shape.
You won’t find an easier way to show your team spirit on the ice. Professional looking socks in your own custom color combinations and patterns can add that professional touch you’ve been looking for and your players will feel like pros on the ice.

Robert Riles asked:
The Philadelphia Flyers hockey team is one of the most popular hockey teams in the country, with a huge fan base and rock solid support. Philadelphia’s professional ice hockey team is a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). Founded in 1967 as a part of the NHL expansions, the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team has always been one of the best expansion teams throughout and also holds the record for being the first expansion team to win the Stanley cup.
However, the years before the Stanley cup win were not great to begin with. The team was a mediocre medley of physically outmatched players during the initial years, which led to the management hiring large and tough players, who managed to earn the title of the Broad Street Bullies in 1972-73, much before they earned any other significant title. However, all this changed when the team won two consecutive Stanley cups in both 74 and 75. But this was the team’s last Stanley cup win, for while the team has managed to reach the playoffs time and time again, the cup has eluded them since 1975. This does not however mean that the team is past its glory, and is today among the best teams in the NHL, with the second highest winning percentage in the League.
The Philadelphia flyers are always in competition with other Atlantic Division members– the New York Islanders, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils. Their favorite foes however would be the New Jersey Devils, who have been major competition in the Atlantic Division titles, and being the only other team apart from the flyers to take the title since 1995.
While the team has had a history of producing great players, Bobby Clark, three time winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy, has been one of the best players ever to play on the side. Eric Lindros and Dave Schultz “Hammer” also find their names somewhere on the top of the list of the most famous Flyers players.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been playing their home games in Broad Street at the Wachovia Center. You can also catch them in action here during season. Tickets to Flyers games are available as different packages ranging from single and season tickets to package and group tickets.
If you are planning to become a Philadelphia Flyers hockey team fan, then you should become the owner of a Flyers jersey soon. The orange, white and black jersey and its many avatars has become a part of hockey folklore, what with its being one of the most recognized NHL jerseys in the country. You can also easily stock up on a number of other merchandise with the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team logo of a flying puck with four Ps to show your support and allegiance to the team.

Cindy Ferguson asked:
tables were turned in this year’s Stanley Cup Finals, as Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby hoisted the Stanley Cup onto his young shoulders. The Penguins managed a 2-1 victory in Game 7 of their series against the Detroit Red Wings, a win that brought them the Stanley Cup for the first time in over 15 years. Even though the heavily-favored Red Wings had a managed a lead twice in the series – first at 2-0, then at 3-2 – the Penguins always managed to even the score. Each team had won three games at home, and the two entered into a Game 7 winner-take-all in Detroit. The Penguins’ Maxime Talbot was able to score two goals for his team in the second and the Wings were unable to tie the score – although not for lack of trying. In fact, Detroit outshot Pittsburgh overall, 23-17. “It’s hard, you know,” 39-year-old Wings captain Niklaus Lidstrom explained. “You’re so close to a Stanley Cup. You’re fighting hard the whole season to put yourself in that situation, so it’s hard losing the way we did tonight.” The game began with a scoreless first period, although the Penguins made 11 shots on goal to the Wings’ 6. At the start of the second, Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin pressured Wings defenseman Brad Stuart into slapping a bad pass. Talbot was able to intercept, firing the puck past Detroit netminder Chris Osgood at just over 1 minute. The assist was Malkin’s third in the series. Game 7 was the second consecutive game in which neither Crosby nor Malkin scored for the Penguins, although Malkin, who was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for postseason MVP, led NHL scorers in both the regular season and in the playoffs. Nine minutes later, Talbot made a wrist shot from the left circle, sliding under the crossbar to push the Penguins’ lead to two at 10:07. Crosby, who played just one shift in the second before leaving the ice due to a knee injury, lauded his teammate. “Max came up with some big goals there,” the captain said. “We don’t get to this point without everyone contributing. I knew the guys were going to find a way to pull it off.” Pittsburgh’s Bill Guerin stated more simply, “Thank God for Max Talbot.” And Marc-Andre Fleury. Pittsburgh’s on-again, off-again goaltender wiped away bad memories of Game 5’s 5-0 shutout loss to the Wings and played a remarkable Game 7. He made 23 saves of 24 shots, stopping Detroit’s 3rd period flurry of shots –the Wings outshot the Penguins 6-1 – including a final denial of four-time champion Lidstrom with just one second left on the clock. Jonathon Ericsson had managed to cut the Wings’ deficit to one with 6:07 left in the game. Niklas Kronwall came close to tying the game with 2:14 left, but he slapped the crossbar. Then came Lidstrom, who was officially marked as 59 feet away but who was in fact much closer. Lidstrom targeted the empty side of the net. Fleury, however, threw himself bodily across the ice, stopping the puck with his chest. “I knew there wasn’t much time left,” the now-legendary netminder explained. “I just decided to get my body out there and it hit me in the ribs.” It was an impossible save that gave the Penguins the Cup. The victory paralleled the two-year duel between the New York Islanders and the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers, a young upstart team, were defeated by the veteran New York Islanders in the final round of the Stanley Cup playoffs; the next year, the Oilers returned, defeating their erstwhile conquerors, and claimed the Stanley Cup. Over twenty years later, the Oilers find a counterpart in the Penguins, as the Islanders do with the Red Wings. However, unlike the Islanders, the Red Wings are not down and out for the count. Many of their key players will remain for the next several years, although next year is Lidstrom’s last. The Wings anticipate a strong season next year. “I’d rather be out there [celebrating victory on the ice],” Wings player Henrik Zetterberg admitted. “But we’ll learn from this, too. It’s going to make us stronger. We have a great group of guys in here.” Oh yes, the Red Wings will be back. But for now, the Penguins can relish their victory, enjoying the fame that comes with being the best team in the NHL.

College hockey ha as solid fan base, and many students try out during college hockey recruiting. Hockey is a sport in which two teams compete by driving a ball or disc using a stick into the goal or net of the opposing team. Perhaps ice hockey is the most popular form of the game, and college hockey teams usually play on an ice surface. The NHL, or the National Hockey League, is considered to be the premier league in professional hockey.
The National Hockey League rose from the dismantling of the league which preceded it, the National Hockey Association (NHA). After endeavoring—unsuccessfully—to resolve the disputes with Eddie Livingstone, then owner of the Toronto Blueshirts, various executives of three other NHA franchises suspended the NHA, and formed the National Hockey League (NHL). They replaced the Livingstone-headed team with a temporary one, located in Toronto, called the Arenas. Though a separate league, the NHL was considered a continuation of the failed NHA. The NHL borrowed the NHA\’s championship trophy, rules, as well as the NHA\’s split-season schedule. The owners had originally intended the NHL to operate for one only season. However, the NHA owners eventually suspended the NHA permanently in 1918, completely shutting it down in 1920.
During the NHL\’s first quarter-century, it competed against two rival major leagues: which were the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and Western Canada Hockey League. These three fought for players and the Stanley Cup. The founding of the Boston Bruins in 1924 brought about the expansion of the NHL into the United States. By 1926 the league consisted of ten teams from Ontario, Quebec, the Great Lakes region, and the Northeastern United States. Soon the NHL emerged as the premier major league, and became the sole competitor for the Stanley Cup. The league completed a deal with the Stanley Cup trustees in 1947 to gain full control of the Cup.
A number of high school students hope to qualify for college hockey teams in order to advance their education, as well as their chances in playing in professional leagues. Try outs and assessments start in high school, in football as well as in other sports. For all involved in college hockey recruiting, therefore, information on college hockey and other details are important in getting an athletic scholarship.
Fortunately, the Internet has proved to be a useful venue for both athletes and coaches participating in college hockey, as well as other sports. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact about college hockey recruiting and other important information. 2009 marks the 91st anniversary of the NHL as a league and the centennial anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens as a franchise. To celebrate this once in a lifetime occasion, Montreal’s Bell Centre will play host to this year’s All-Star Game in January and the 2009 Entry Draft in June.
This year’s season will also feature the second annual NHL Winter Classic, which will see two classic NHL’s teams playing hockey the way it was originally meant to be played – in the great outdoors. In this year’s Winter Classic, the Chicago Blackhawks will take on the Detroit Red Wings, in Chicago’s famous Wrigley Field, home to Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. The match-up will be not only exciting and entertaining, but historic, as these two “Original Six” teams play to remind fans what the game of hockey is all about.
In terms of standings so far this season, the San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Washington Capitals are among the top teams speculated to bring home this year’s cup. Nicklas Lidstrom and his defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings will look to defend their title and bring the cup back to Detroit for the twelfth time in franchise history. It won’t be easy though, as top teams like the Vancouver Canucks, who have never won a Stanley Cup before, are hungrier and closer than ever to the ultimate prize.
